Android Skinning Begins

Thanks to living_sword over at ModMyGphone, it looks as though the age of skinned Android phones has begun. Thus far, the mod requires a Jailbroken phone and the status icons are the only items to be altered.

I am currently using a G1 on a T-Mobile account with the Total Internet add-on. Up until today, everything has worked flawlessly. This morning I started receiving the below message in the web browser when trying to acces the internet:
Plan Required

First G1 tethering method found

A post over at Tmonews Forums outlines a method for sharing the G1’s internet connection over USB. The method isn’t exactly plug-and-play, but is a step in the right direction.

T-Mobile G1 ranking fifth in Time’s gadget of the year poll

The T-Mobile G1 is currently sitting at fifth place in Time’s Gadget of the Year poll.  The G1 is the only mobile phone on the list, but the current top five are all internet enabled devices.
