Flash Coming to Android

Adobe’s MAX developer conference is this week. At the conference, Adobe will be demonstrating Flash for mobile phones. Unfortunately the first platform will be Windows Mobile, but product manager Michele Turner has indicated that an “Android port” is in the works.

While it is not surprising that Windows Mobile will be seeing Flash 10 first (Microsoft has previously embraced Flash Lite), it is nice to see that Android will most likely beat out the other big player, Apple. Looks like the openness of the Android platform may once again be showing it’s advantages over Apple’s strict approval process.

UPDATE: Turns out Windows Mobile wasn’t the only platform seeing some Flash love this morning. It is being reported that Google’s own Andy Rubin demonstrated Flash running on a G1. No word on when the app will be available to end users, but things are looking up.
